This is the 2nd annual discussion panel regarding planetary contamination. If the first event was any indication, this will be a very entertaining and thought provoking evening. Our speakers are three experts in their fields related to Astrobiology. Join us for an unforgettable evening.

Our Panelists

  Dr. Margaret S. Race
 
Dr. Margaret Race is a biologist and expert in the field of planetary
protection, analyzing issues of cross-contamination both in space and on Earth.  She works closely with NASA in studying scientific, policy media.

Chris McKay    Dr. Chris McKay
Chris received his Ph.D. in AstroGeophysics from the University of Colorado in 1982 and has been a research scientist with the NASA Ames Research Center since that time. His current research focuses on the evolution of the solar system and the origin of life. He is also actively involved in planning for future Mars missions including human settlements.  Chris has been involved with polar research since 1980, traveling to the Antarctic dry valleys and more recently to the Siberian and Canadian Arctic to conduct research in these Mars-like environments.

Sandra Dawson
Sandra Dawson has worked at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory for over seventeen years, and has done risk communication for the Galileo, Ulysses, Cassini, and Mars missions.  She is currently doing risk communication for the Jupiter Icy Moons Orbiter and New Horizons missions.  She graduated from Claremont Graduate University with a Master's of International Study.  She has given risk communication presentations in a number of national and international for over the past seven years.
